My Background

I love what I do!

As an uplifting speaker and workshop facilitator, I blend education, engagement, enthusiasm, humor, and inspiration into every program I deliver. Based in Raleigh, I will travel anywhere on earth to make a difference at career expos, colleges, companies, conferences, and youth organizations. My topics include job search/career readiness, embracing uniqueness, pursuing dreams, and remaining determined.

College Students

While in a full-time Career Services role at the University of Central Florida (UCF), I educated students the fundamentals of interviewing, negotiation, networking, and resume development through talks and individual coaching. While at UCF, my love for making a difference led to the nomination as a Student Affairs Outstanding Service Award Finalist. As a freelancer, I have been a guest speaker at Duke University, North Carolina State University, Wake Forest University, Wake Tech Community College, United Way, and the YMCA. In 2019, I delivered an engaging and inspirational keynote to a crowd of 1,700 at an ECPI graduation.

Adult Learning

My experience with adult learning began at Drake Beam and Right Management, two globally-recognized career management firms. In those roles totaling more than 15 years, I facilitated career transition workshops designed for professionals whose jobs were impacted by downsizing. Two major highlights include a 30-month project in which I collaborated with 18 career coaches to service 3,000 job candidates and the delivery of workshops over a six-week period at a manufacturing plant comprised of 250 employees.

In addition to my experience as a project consultant with Drake Beam and Right Management, I have created and facilitated career transition workshops for Duke University's Short Courses Program, Wake County Lifelong Learning, Wake Tech Community College (HR Development), and Capital Workforce Development career expos. Additional value I bring humans youth and adults  going through a job search/career change is a background in recruiting capacities at SeaWorld, Hilton (Disney Resort), and Universal Studios.

Education

My Bachelor of Arts was earned at Western Illinois University.

Through CPP, Inc., I am certified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The MBTI is a time-tested assessment that I thoroughly enjoy incorporating into workshops on career transition, customer service and team building.

Testimonial

“I had the pleasure of attending Dan's presentation at a recent Triangle Networking Group meeting. Dan creatively weaved his passion for music into an energetic and engaging session around career management and transition. Dan is a dynamic speaker who not only captivates the audience, but he pulls you in as an active participant. He has this unique ability to convey complex topics in a way that truly makes sense. Plus, it's fun! Throughout the presentation, he shared his perspective and provided helpful tips on networking and managing your career. I highly recommend Dan as a motivational speaker and career coach... you won't be disappointed”
